Richard Nixon is the best president of the
20th Century.
Richard Nixon is the worst president of the
20th Century.
Depends on who you talk to about him.
I think his main influences were Woodrow
Wilson and Abraham Lincoln.
I have read that his mother drilled him in
the ways of Lincoln.
Most people I have read thought it was Teddy
Roosevelt who was his hero because his actions
mimic Teddy.
He said once that Wilson was his personal choice
of a role model.
Each President I have studied uses a predecessor
or predecessors as a road map for his own presidency.
Nixon liked Wilson because of Foreign Affairs.
Wilson was a failure in foreign affairs and suffered
a stroke as a result.
Nixon succeeded in foreign affairs and failed in domestic
affairs.
Wilson has one achievement in domestic affairs.
The Federal Reserve Banking System.
It is his only achievement that has stood the test of time.
Some scholars rate him 3 or 4 overall.
Others classify him as a failure.
I'd say he was brilliant set some precedents and overreached
in foreign policy.
Brilliant with a lot of self discipline. Too much self discipline.
He self destructed as a result and it cost him his mind.
Same with Nixon almost the same result.
Nixon and Wilson.
Driven to succeed almost historic done in by overreaching.
One in domestic affairs and the other in foreign affairs.
The curse of Wilsonian Idealism rallied the American people
for 3 world wars.
The public grew cynical about idealism.
Wars come and go.
They know we have to fight ocassionally.
They just want some good reason without the BS.
